Maís Alálá

Using an avant-garde Galician poetry book from the 1920’s as a creative springboard, Maís Alálá is 19 pieces of piano, synth, percussion, words and movement. Developed in residence at The Rose Hill and fine tuned back in Spain, Maís Alálá is an inspired piece of collaborative improvisation: an examination into shared meaning across different media (performance, dance, music, photography) and a beautiful testament to the creative minds behind it. Alexjandro Vargas is an award-winning Cuban pianist, and Xelis De Toro is a performance artist, singer and renowned author (in Spain his books are on the national school syllabus!).

The album is released as a beautiful limited edition box set of 19 postcards, released in collaboration with Galician publishing house Aoxerre.

Each piece has its own visual identity – a corresponding postcard, the imagery of which includes photographs captured by Galician photographer Manuel Vilariño and calligraphic imagery by XdT and AV. Each postcard has a QR code that takes you to music online, where you can listen to the full album or download it.
