Every Day Above Ground Is Beautiful

We are extremely stoked to bring you this beautiful and brilliant new album. It’s an EXTREMELY limited run of 10 Lathe-Cut white 12″ vinyl, with an accompanying longer digital album. The cover was handmade and includes a line-drawing by one of our directors, Jules Arthur, printed on clear acetate that overlays the main artwork. It’s a beautiful hand crafted item that belongs on the shelves of rare vinyl collectors!!

Adam Bushell (Vibraphone + FX) & Paul Khimasia Morgan (Neckless guitar, transducers, synths and FX) are stalwarts of both The Rose Hill and the Brighton free-improv scene, through which they have known each other for decades. They started playing as a duo in 2023, and we always knew at some point we wanted to record them and put out an album on Rose Hill Records!

Adam & Paul’s music is all improvised in real time, and explores the boundaries of electronic & acoustic sounds, the dialogue between Vibraphone and acoustic guitar body + effects. Each player has their own distinctive musical voice, but those voices are blended and interwoven through the use of processing & effects. The overall sound is sparse, textural & ambient, but retains a sense of precise focus and moments of crystal clarity

Adam Bushell is a versatile and eclectic percussionist, who started playing music in his parents’ village band aged 7. His musical curiosity and sense of adventure have led him to explore traditional folk music, contemporary classical music and experimental improvisation and he performs frequently in all three genres.

His regular ensembles include the folk trio Duck Soup, an improvised electro-acoustic duo with Paul Khimasia Morgan, and the Broken Line trio with whom he has performed some of Morton Feldman’s extended works – including the 4 hour For Philip Guston. He has worked with musicians including Chris Wood, Steve Beresford, Michael Finnissy and the Copper Family, and has performed everywhere from the BBC Proms to Cafe OTO to the back room of your local pub

Adam is a proud ambassador for his hometown of Newhaven, where he co-founded the Newhaven Green Centre, a community-focussed environmental charity, and helps run the Ouse Valley Morris

Paul Khimasia Morgan is an improvising musician, recording engineer and visual artist. As well as being a third of Bee Reiki Trio with Faradena Afifi and Steve Beresford, he has worked creatively with Blanca Regina, Richard Sanderson, Jason Kahn, Charlotte Keefe, Cristiàn Alvear, Klaus Janek, Ryu Hankil and Simon Whetham; is a participant in the groups TIDES (with Paul May, Peter Marsh and Daniel Spicer) and Mark Wastell’s THE SEEN. He currently has a duo with Adam Bushell which “…continue their explorations in dialogue between vibraphone and acoustic guitar body and electronics…”

Paul has previous work available on Discus, Hard Return, Minimal Resource Manipulation (MRM), Lonely Impulse, Linear Obsessional, Crónica, The Spirit of Gravity, Korm Plastics, Con-V, Absence of Wax, TSOKL and Confront Recordings.

Since 2010, Paul organises Aural Detritus Concert Series (adcs) events; heading a team that organised three “micro-festivals” of improvised music, composition and sound art at Brighton Phoenix art gallery from 2012 to 2014. These “micro-festivals” will resume in June 2026. Aural Detritus developed into an occasional – often site-specific – concert series with an associated digital imprint to release recordings made at adcs events.
