OOOoooffff! This gig will be flippin awesome. Brilliant jerky grooves, wonky glassy synths in various tuning systems, drum triggers and more. So cool, intuitive and special! We are delighted to have KirK Barley back in the house under his other alias for this collaborative project with drummer Matt Davies – Church Andrews.

“Magnificent collision of the organic and synthetic as Church Andrews and Matt Davies create mind-warping intricate patterns using Fibonacci sequences. Think the radical rhythmic percussion of Eli KeszlerValentina Magaletti, and Milford Graves meets the pristine, crystalline digital sounds of Gábor LázárRian Treanor and Mark Fell. Sounds like some form of hyper-techno-jazz from far out in the multiverse. Ace!” NORMAN RECORDS

Church Andrews & Matt Davies showcase a mutually informed conversation between live electronics and analogue percussion, in which Andrews’s synth sounds and Davies’s drum performances act in response to one another, the results are a series of sonic organisms – semi-mechanical ecosystems that click and whirr with subtle, shifting focuses.

On a compositional level, the British duo often work with alternate tunings, employing just intonation or observed tunings derived from instruments and musical styles from all across the world. Heavily experimenting with time signatures and morphing temporals, their minimal sound palette feels rhythmically and aesthetically diverse.

Dead strong and curious rhythmic bliss on that distinctive tip shared with SND/Mark Fell,
Gábor Lázár, goat (JP), Beatrice Dillon and Eli Keszler, with some added jazzwise sauce
