Join us for a special night of experimental folk, drone and acoustic performance. Featuring performances from both Ba music undergraduates and allumni from the University of Sussex. Both acts exist within the rich tradition of English folk music, providing an innovative and explorative approach to time-tested musical practices. Casette tapes will be on sale at the event featuring demos and pieces from Seb Truscott-Cooper, with all proceeds going towards Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).

Seb Truscott-Cooper is an English folk musician, guitarist, sound designer and composer. In his performance, Sebastian delivers a unique blend of traditional English folk combined with an innovative approach to acoustic audio augmentation and electronic composition. This performance marks the debut of his new project; an exploration into experimental folk/rock genres. Accompanied by a four-piece band, the performance will feature pieces that involve field recording, drone and minimalist approaches. Expect to hear shruti box, accordion, banjo, electronic feedback and more. For fans of caroline, The Microphones and The Books.

In 2022, Sebastian formed the rock group Feedback, the band went on to release a number of singles as well as the EP Night Mail in 2024. Following this, Sebastian began performing around the United Kingdom and Europe, including supporting The Wonder Stuff’s frontman Miles Hunt during some shows in the southwest of England, as well as performing at an in-studio live session for War Child UK. Sebastian has gone on to perform and compose collaboratively with multiple groups and musicians, including the post-hardcore band Wet Concrete, folk musician Anonnymouse and guitarist Oscar Woolley.

Alongside his performance and work in bands, Sebastian also works as a composer and sound artist, composing scores for films such as A Tiny Blip (2026) and Just Keep Swimming (2026), as well as contributing sound design work for the Same Sky – Glimmer lantern installation at the University of Sussex, for which he won a Sussex Award. Sebastian is currently composing, performing, and recording his own original music, as well as scoring for upcoming projects.

Joining Seb is Anonnymouse, a solo banjo and voice performer, inspired by musicians such as Adrianne Lenker, Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell. Nonny has been a prolific name throughout the Brighton music scene over the last few years, having performed all over the city at open mics, curated events and as a part of the Penderecki’s Playhouse events at Presuming Ed’s and The Cowley Club. His debut album, The Banjo Sessions, is out now on bandcamp.
