London drone pop group The Leaf Library bring their full band show to Brighton to promote their brand new album, ‘After The Rain, Strange Seeds’, a luminous collection of pastoral indiepop, drawing inspiration from suburban isolation, unreliable memories and the surreality of the weather. Their most immediate and melodic work to date, the richly evocative songs brim with chiming guitars, buzzing organs and warm, dulcet strings.
Mixing motorik Stereolab repetition, Yo La Tengo fuzz and The Clientele’s suburban jangle, the group offer multi-layered and immersive live shows – perfect for the intimate Rose Hill setting.
The Leaf Library’s new album, mixed by the all time legend John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea And Cake) is described as “a luminous collection of pastoral indie-pop, drawing inspiration from suburban isolation, unreliable memories and the surreality of the weather”. They have collaborated recently with Brighton drum and bass artist Xylitol (on her new Planet Mu album) and have releases on Castles In Space, Mille Plateaux and indie stalwarts Where It’s At Is Where You Are and Fika Recordings.
Minor Dents
Support is from the excellent Broadcast-do-space rock trio Minor Dents.
With a freshly released debut EP Sitting With The Fish on Rose Hill Records, launched at Lewes Psych Fest Minor Dents are a propulsive kosmische trio with Holly Finch on vocals and bass, Ryan Bollard on drums and Al Strachan on keys, cornet and electronics. They’ve been described as:
“…the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band if they had come out of 70’s Düsseldorf instead of 60s Los Angeles”.
Expect an evening of swirling indie pop, kosmic drones and electronics.
