We have an UNBELIEVABLE line up of brilliant DJS, performance artists and most of all LIVE MOROCCAN GNAWA 4-piece fronted by the powerhouse and two-time Songlines Award nominee Simo Lagnawi. He is a tour-de-force, a captivating presence on stage and an all round heavyweight. Here he is in all his glory:
Moroccan musician Simo Lagnawi was raised in the Gnawa tradition and is an award-winning ambassador for Gnawa music. Never afraid to blend non-traditional elements into his work, he always remains true to his musical heritage.
Nominated for x2 SONGLINES awards (𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒓 2014 and 𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒕) he has been a band leader for multiple different groups – including the psychedelic groove-heavy Electric Jalaba who we had here earlier this year (!) as well as leading School of Gnawa workshops in London.
It’s no surprise that he has been invited to perform on BBC World service, CNN, BBC R3, BBC R6, the BBC Proms ,Vox Africa (the list goes on!) & performed at festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Latitude, BoomTown and more across Europe, North Africa, and North America.
TUNES TUNES TUNES we have DJ’s that have migrated here for one night only from all over the globe bringing you everything from Bashment Reggae and Dancehall, to Javanese Gong pop, heavy bassline, Chicago house, Footwork and big time fave tunes that everyone wants to hear anytime.
