Exciting!! Brilliant local producer and electronic legend Paul Wilson AKA F.Ampism has come out with this absolute gem of an album and we’re hyped to host it’s launch. Hive Mind records commissioned the album a few years back and finally it is here whoop! ‘The Vertical Luminous’ weaves electronic experimentation, found sound, and playful melodies into a rich and rewarding tapestry of sound and we LOVE it! It’s mischievous and microscopic, layered and beautiful.
F.Ampism will be performing a full live set featuring amazing jazz drummer James Parsons as guest, it’s going to be an absolute corker.

Drawing from traditions of musique concrète and ambient synthesis, The Vertical Luminous creates a world of textural depth and microscopic wonder. Across its tracks, bubbling tones, processed field recordings, and shifting electronic layers intertwine, evoking the sensation of listening in on the hidden rhythms of atoms, molecules, and micro-organisms.
While grounded in experimental technique, The Vertical Luminous avoids the academic or austere, instead embracing a mischievous sense of melody and curiosity – a reminder that exploration and joy can coexist in sound. The result is a record that is both meditative and playful, equally suited to deep listening or casual drift.
F.Ampism is also a member of Brighton-based gonzo free-jazz fünftet Bolide, plays in Kaloja, a duo with Jan Anderzén (Tomutonttu, Kemialliset Ystävät) and Yayoba; a trio with Johannes Schebler (Baldruin, Grykë Pyje) and Jani Hirvonen (Grykë Pyje, Last Night on Earth).
