Dan Quinn (melodeon), Ian Keary (bass, slide guitar, mandolin, tipple) & Adam Bushell (marimba, mandolin, phonofiddle etc) have been peddling their distinctive blend of traditional music since 2005 – grooving on English polkas, getting lost in Qebecois waltzes and psychedlicising Danish marches. It ends up as a cross between your favourite folk tune session, and a collision in an instrument shop!
Duck Soup have been playing for decades, appearing at folk clubs & festivals around the country and sharing stages with everyone from Martin Carthy to the Copper Family. Their second album ‘Open On Sundays‘ earned 4 out of five stars in the Guardian.
Dan forms the core of the band, keeping all the tunes rooted in tradition with his rock solid melodeon & singing; Ian creates a powerful groove on fretless bass, slide guitar & mandolin – he’s a man who can find the rock & roll heart of any traditional ballad! And Adam’s array of instruments might not immediately make you think of folk music, but the way he plays them will. You’ll go home wanting a phonofiddle of your own! Together, they’ve uncovered some lost gems of traditional music – tunes and songs that might seem familiar, but always have something unexpected about them.

Copper Family
There have been members of the Copper Family singing folk songs in Sussex for at least 350 years, and they are currently on their 8th generation of singers. Their family songbook is the stuff of legend, and was instrumental in kick-starting the English Folk Dance & Song Society back in 1898. They reflect the music, the culture and the rich oral history of rural Sussex life through the ages – true folk royalty!

Graham Larkbey (with or without his occasional band ‘the Escape Committee‘) is an institution amongst London’s folk clubs. For this solo excursion you can expect straight songs, silly songs, own songs, improbable cover versions … expect the unexpected, but don’t expect many folk songs!

Seven Stars are fast becoming a Newhaven institution, and are spreading their wings to Brighton for the second time. They’re a young folk band (if you leave out Adam & Rachel who run the band, the average age is 11), who play folk tunes from the UK & America with fire and groove!
