As our attendees and performers continue to attest, each of our live gatherings has been a magical confluence of un/like minds and variform sonic enchantment. It thrills us to present our second ever Winter Solstice summoning (the first being our now legendary inaugural live Rose Hill Séance) as headlined by the mighty Burd Ellen.
Burd Ellen
Comprised of Debbie Armour and Gayle Brogan (the latter elsewhere creating as Pefkin, the joint header at our first), this folk duo have honed their hermetic fusion of ancient song and instrumentation with sonorous, nightside electronics into monumental body of work across four albums and several EPs concerned variously with death, the seasons, resistance and the Tarot.
‘Debbie Armour and Gayle Brogan harmonise beautifully and add unnerving sounds to British seasonal songs.’

JODIE LOWTHER
As long-standing a favourite on our radio show (the-seance.com ) as Burd Ellen, Jodie Lowther‘s glorious outsider dreampop is continuously evolving while remaining confoundingly and resolutely other; a reverb-drenched and uniquely atmospheric twilight songbook soaked in the lore of vintage Hammer gothic, Lynchian surrealism and a skewed sub/urban psychedelia. Upon our special request this is her debut live performance after more than a decade of recording and we are overjoyed to be hosting it.
“Hushed, spectrally reverberating and intimate soundscapes.”
