Solstice

Emerging from the hyperactive improvisation scene in Brighton, God’s Teeth and The Interstellar Tropics forge expansive sonic tapestries of shimmering percussion, labyrinthine guitar textures and spectral vocalisations. Rose Hill Records is proud to present their latest album, Solstice, recorded in one long session on Midwinter’s eve 2019.

“I pull the veil aside and step through its portals… dreams rush to meet me”

Sun Ra

Solstice is the sound of dreams rushing to meet you.  If ever we needed to shut out the real world for a few moments and turn our brains towards the world of dreams and the subconscious then it’s now. This bold, three track album simmers and bubbles – hypnotic longform music for the psychonauts amongst you. It opens with the sound of a bell. Unexpected crashes and eerie tones lure you in as the music slowly builds into a wonderful cacophonous symphony, all delay-drenched guitars and comforting rumbles. Let the fluttering percussion, un-namable creature-textures, and entrancing voices take you away. This is about slowing the fuck down. Enter the zone. Enter the Interstellar Tropics..!

God’s Teeth is the collaboration between respected improvisers and composers James Parsons (drums and percussion), Dolly Rae Starcore (gong, percussion, vocals and electronics) and Karl M V Waugh (guitar and effects). The band is made up of members of The A Band (who “occupy a key position in the UK undergroundThe Wire), the legendary electro acoustic sonic maelstrom Bolide, the fierce improv girl band Thee Hairee Kuntz, The Zero Map and Binnsclagg, having all released countless solo music and poetry work under their many aliases. Dolly Rae Starcore’s recent poetry was quoted by The New Statesman and she has published with Ignota.
