Nimzo Studio 1

Eponymous debut release from producer-duo Nimzo Studio, the first in a three chapter series of eps to be released across 2026.

Nimzo Studio are shapeshifters: virtuosic multi- instrumentalists, award winning composers and experimental sound artists. From gigs to film soundtracks, catwalk and fashion to AV installations, Nimzo Studio have collaborated deeply for two decades. They are just as at home composing beat-driven, hook-fuelled tracks as they are adept at carving unlikely pathways through soundscapes, field recordings and walls of distortion. Taken as a whole, this new suite of works presents a sophisticated attention to detail, texture and form with the unifying thread that every moment has been sculpted with care.

EP 1 bursts open the floodgates to Nimzo’s musical world with beats, colours and hooks. ‘

‘Shut Up, Shut Down’ builds from warm synths to a rich chorus of voices and word play that bridge the synapses between nostalgia, innocence and sonic complexity.

‘Little Diomede’ is Nimzo remixing and recalibrating prog-folk mavericks Moulettes… this rework deepens the original’s exploration of language and communication: vocals stutter and splice in a cascade of syncopation between strings and beats in an epic remake of cold war glacial sonics.

‘Breakables’pushestheEPintoadarkerspace, throwing aside all caution in an aggressive bombardment of distorted drums, microtonally twisted melodic lines and rave-like synth leads which hold echoes of artists such as Death Grips and Machine Girl.

The final track ‘Crickets’ is all polyrhythmic grooves and octatonic melodies in a musical language that brings together the unusual time signatures of producers such as Venetian Snares with the harmonic tones of modern Jazz group Troyka.
