Poetry in Black & White

  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

Thursday 20th April | 7pm | £6 advance tickets

An evening of collaborative experimental filmpoems, featuring work by poet/playwright Maria Jastrzębska made in collaboration with filmmaker Wendy Pye and artist Dagmara Rudkin and work by playwright/poet Mark C. Hewitt made in collaboration with digital artist Matt Parsons.

Maria’s collaboration is linked to her installation and live literature production, Snow Q, a queer reimagining of the story of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen, exploring contemporary themes of social isolation, gender, sexuality, migration and exile; while Mark C. Hewitt’s Les Coffrets is a collection of noirish neo-surrealist miniatures, all less than 90 seconds duration, that have variously been shown at 38 short film festivals in 18 countries, winning a number of laurels and awards. In this informal conversation and screening, the works will be introduced and discussed by the artists with Q&A along the way.
