Summer closes and the corn ripens; sit back for tales to see out the season. Across the world, across history, stories have celebrated the bounty of the harvest and the fruits of farmers’ labours; but are we still such caring stewards of the land? Have we remembered where, for generations, our living has come from – and how much we owe to the ground beneath our feet?

Through Roman goddesses and English goblins, Georgian gentlemen and guerrilla gardeners, join Jon for stories from past and present, digging among the deepest roots of settled life: a relationship with the land that must be both give and take.

Jon is a Brighton-based storyteller known for his captivating delivery and fascination with folklore, history and landscape. He performs regularly in schools, festivals and online, and has appeared in the Brighton Festival Our Place programme. He was shortlisted for the national Step Up Commission 2023.
