Furrowed & Alexander Painter

  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

Thursday 8th February | 7pm | £7.50 advance tickets

Live vinyl sound tatooing? Yes . Delighted to have innovative sound artist and musician Dylan Beatie back in the house with a new collab featuring excellent multi-instrumentalist Alexander Painter!

Furrowed is Brighton-based producer/sound artist, Dylan Beattie. Working with a modified vinyl record lathe, he incorporates live inscription into performance. Starting with a blank disc, Dylan “tattoos” sounds onto the record by hand and then plays those new grooves using multiple styluses and live sound manipulation.

For this performance he will be working alongside multi-instrumentalist Alexander Painter, who will provide live sounds to be etched, using cello and saxophone improvisations. The result will be a hypnotic and organic performance built around Dylan’s unique experimental techniques.

Also based in Brighton, Alexander Painter is a composer and sound performer with a similarly experimental attitude to his work, often using analog tape and inventive approaches to his instruments. He regularly collaborates with artists such as Gazelle Twin, Orlando Weeks, William Doyle, and Tony Njoku.
