Witch 'N' Monk + Laborotoro

  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

Thursday 3rd March | 7pm | £12 ADV

Anglo-Colombian anarchic soprano, guitar and rebel flute duo Witch 'n' Monk play music from their new album released on John Zorn's Tzadik Records. The Guardian named it their 'Contemporary Album of the Month' and according to The Wire it's "hard to imagine that voice, guitar and flute could groove so hard and deliver so much". But John Zorn describes their music best: Blending Latin American flutes, electronics, complex vocal lines with a touch of Frank Zappa lyricism and a radical punk aesthetic, the duo of Heidi Heidelberg and Mauricio Velasierra crafts a dramatically bizarre vocal music from another dimension! Special performance featuring Swiss drummer Nicolas Stocker (ECM, Nik Bärtsch).
