Maggie Nicols is one of our favourite vocal improvisers ever and we are super excited to have her latest project perform here. She has played with so many greats including Robert Wyatt, Trevor Watts and Phil Minton and still runs her yearly improv residency in Wales open to all. She is a radical. Scottish born Free Jazz feminist improviser working since the 1960’s to push the boundaries of vocal music and performance.

This Friendship Is Sailing features Maggie Nicols and Odie Ji Ghast on vocals, Sam Andreae on saxophone and home made instruments and David Birchall on guitar.

This is part of a tour of afternoon gigs where everyone is welcome! Their idea is for the gigs to be inclusive and child friendly but still focused on freely improvised performance. They will have an art and craft workshops running during each performance led by artists Naomi Kendrick and Andrew Kerr for everyone to get involved with.
