THE WIRE 40 X THE OUTER CHURCH

  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

Saturday 23rd July | 3pm- midnight | £10 ADV

Uncanny audiovisual cult The Outer Church rematerialises in the town of its birth for a special event as part of The Wire Magazine's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Assorted mischief across two floors including live performances from SARAH ANGLISS (performing music from her score for Romola Garai's acclaimed directorial debut Amulet) + MICROCORPS + OPAL X + KEMPER NORTON + NAD SPIRO plus weird cinema from Larry Fessenden's legendary production house GLASS EYE PIX, including rarely seen early work from TI WEST (The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers, X).

Sarah Angliss: "[Her] music is… possessed of an eerie instability… atmospheric and compelling… full of strange sounds and clever compositional ideas" (The Wire 401)

Microcorps: "Twisted drones that ascend and revolve… a palpable synthetic malevolence" (The Wire 447)

Kemper Norton: "Kemper’s compositions unfurl, fittingly, as a strange attractor toward which the listener is drawn" (The Wire 460)

Nad Spiro: "Evocative of a landscape created by industry and subsequently claimed by folklore" (The Wire 438)

Glass Eye Pix: "Larry Fessenden has been crafting some of the best, most personal and idiosyncratic movies on the independent horror scene, and has produced dozens more via Glass Eye Pix" (Rue Morgue, April 2022)
