Figment Arts present a showcase launch of animated videos and spoken word poetry around autistic communication and loneliness, created in response to autistic academic Dr Gemma Williams research project at the University of Brighton.
They worked together over several months to develop a series of short, animated films that communicate the findings from a PhD research project called ‘Talking Together’. The research investigated communication between autistic and non-autistic speakers and also looked at the topic of loneliness and social isolation. They made one ‘explainer’ video sharing the main findings from the research, and then individual artists worked on their own short films responding to the themes of miscommunication, interacting socially as an autistic person, and loneliness.
