Wednesday 24th January | 7pm | FREE ENTRY
We are delighted for artist, musician film maker Ian Helliwell to launch this series of experimental film and sound nights here at The Rose Hill!
Devoted to screening short experimental films, this free entry, monthly get-together for the uninitiated as well as devotees of underground movies and alternative soundtracks, is compiled and presented by Brighton based artist-filmmaker and electronic music composer, Ian Helliwell. Selecting a different theme for every event, each one will include local and international avant-garde shorts from past and present, reflecting a wide range of experimental film, animation and documentaries with an emphasis on electronic sound. The hope is to create an ongoing series of short film programmes - plus occasional discussions with experimental filmmakers - to create a nexus for independent, left field movies.
The first Synch Pulse - Cut Outs and Cut Ups - was included in the Brighton Cinecity film festival, and showcased cut out animations. Future themed programmes include: architecture; water; railways; psychedelic states; cities; sound visualization; time; space flight; world's fairs; collage; cosmic science; and abstraction.
