This is ( to our knowledge) the first live music series of its kind!!
With support from Arts Council England we are running a new event series called re / shape / sound with guest curator and Rose Hill label artist I am Fya.Celebrating and championing exciting experimental live music from the global majority. (The people who make up roughly 85% of the world's population. Most recent term to replace terms like "ethnic minority" and "person of color" (POC) which are seen as racialized, or "Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic" (BAME).
From bass heavy barbadian songscapes to electro acoustic Oud compositions routed in the middle east and visceral nu punk flavours . Plus phatty DJ set to end the night !
Behind the scenes, re / shape / sound is a team of three black and brown women two-thirds of whom are from the LGBTQIA+ community. Guest curator I Am Fya, Rose Hill creative director + artist Kassia Zermon and musician/producer Raevennan Husbandes. To accompany these live events, we will be producing radio broadcasts featuring live re / shape / sound performances, Q&A's and more.
Organisers say “We want to document the series to chronicle our story as a community and feed into our cultural history for future generations.”

Known for her explosive club performances, I Am Fya debuted at Burning Man’s sister festival, Nowhere, in the Monegro Desert in 2010, and has since performed at major festivals including Glastonbury (The Sistxrhood), Shambala (The Sanqtuary) and Bestival. She has collaborated with queer-led production company, Marlborough Productions and independent artist-led venue, The Rosehill and is part of Brighton based, Afro-Futurist performance collective, Brownton Abbey. I Am Fya is an Arts Council England funded artist and is a board member of Outlands Network.
Kareem Samara is multi instrumentalist and composer from London. His work focuses on the electro acoustic possibilities of the Oud and arabic music. A founding member of Raast Collective, Kareem Samara has become known as a versatile Oud player and Guitarist.
London - based solo musician CHarlie Valentine aka NO HOME is the definition of experimental and one of a kind! Their most recent album, ‘Fucking Hell’, has been named one of the ‘The 35 Best Rock Albums of 2020’ by Pitchfork, and each song on it is a unique manifestation of their individuality. Their style pushes all boundaries of genre, their vocals are mystifying, and their sound is noisy and industrial.
