OOOF this is a special one!! A men's vocal ensemble from Samegrelo region in the west of Georgia, led by Dimitri Kakulia.
Georgian choirs are something really quite special and here the ensemble will perform a wide repertoire from this beautiful, UNESCO listed tradition, ranging from sacred chants to work songs, modern 'city' songs, and comic folk songs, but all with a particular emphasis on western Georgian styles.
Recently returned from touring Lithuania, this will be Musikeli's first visit to the UK.
Musikeli are also running a workshop in the evening at Patcham Junior School Hall. The workshop is open to all, and there is no need to read music, know the language, or have previous experience. Songs will be taught by ear. You are guaranteed a warm welcome and an enjoyable introduction to this beautiful music. Sign up for that here.
