SUNDAY 11TH MAY 2025 | 1PM | TICKETS FROM £15 + BOOKING FEE
Experience a true ‘Mehfil’ - a purposefully small intimate setting for South Asian classical music - where a musician and their audience aim to reach the ‘rasa’ – a state of engagement when they become ‘one’ in emotion and intent. Often played to the appropriate time of the day and night, here at the Mehfil – e – Rose Hill, they will play alongside genre defying new creations.
Performance and jam session with Mehfil – e – Rose Hill artists: Guiliano Modarelli and friends
As part of zerOclassikal's Divergence series, Giuliano Modarelli breaks new ground while treading the history of the lost ragas with a quartet. The new music uncovers the secret history of traditional ragas that have been forgotten over time, combining them with modern electronic and jazz sensibilities to create a unique soundscape while honouring Hindustani classical compositions.
We will end with an improvised session with artists who have been with us over the Mehfil – e – Rose Hill weekend. Make sure you’re part of this final event of our weekend, we will bring together south Asian classically trained and jazz artists.
