Sound Art Brighton bring you Listen Club each month here at The Rose Hill .
Listen club is about listening together is in the same space, with the possibility of sharing impressions and casual discussion afterwards. Listen Club hopes to provide alternative to fast paced solo listening experiences with a more patient shared experience; a deep listen, together, in order to foster community. Each month a guest curator is invited to programme a themed listening session.
Listen Club #11, curated by Olivia Louvel on the theme of tectonic plates and the shifting of sea, land and vision. She will play tracks from her latest release, doggerLANDscape and from Acoustic Cameras, a project which invites sound artists to use the real-time webcams located in various places around the world, in this instance, Iceland.
Olivia Louvel is a French-born British composer and artist who works with sound recordings, sound art installations, video art, and live performances.
She often works at the border of documentation and creation. She has recently presented her work at Middlesbrough Art Week, Towner Eastbourne, Phoenix Art Space, and The Hepworth Wakefield. Her research has been supported by the Henry Moore Foundation and the Arts Council. She won an Ivor Novello Award for Best Sound Art at the Ivors Classical Awards 2023.
