Kosmische Night

  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

Saturday 15th October | 7pm | £Discretionary

A chilled night to celebrate a rare musical subgenre and its pioneers. Kosmische represents the cosmic, otherwordly sounds coming from West Berlin in the early 70s. The night will be a relaxed affair (seating/lying strong encouraged!) with both live acts and DJs playing music influenced by this branch of music. It is very rare to hear any of this style of music live and we are fortunate to have The Rose Hill support us in this endeavour!

Kosmische muzik started in the early 70s and was (West) Germany's attempt to explore new sound worlds, and challenge the old Anglo-centric rock/blues vocal-led music of the time. It was as much influenced by Stockhausen, Ligeti, Cage and the avant garde in general as it was from contemporary popular music. Kosmische (aka 'Berlin School') pieces are typically long and hypnotic so relax and enjoy.
