Into the dreaming dark collects together 7 years of explorations back and forth across the thin bridge into the dreaming ancient woods of Dartmoor, the ceremonial landscape of Avebury, the chalky woodlands around Brighton. It travels into the heart of the blues, where everyday life and excursions into the perilous realm criss cross like the stitches on the hem of a cloak.
The launch event will open up the book, with poems set to music by Lee Westwood, explorations of the dreaming of place, and the old fairy tales that lie at the place the human heart meets the wild root.
"These poems contain a reverent silence … the silence of green glades, forest floor, ancestral doorways, earth and bone, the black heart. You can look up to the blue and gold sky or go down into the tunnels in the loam made by small creatures, follow the stone steps down into caves and lie by underground streams, crack open the seed and trace the skeletons of bodies and leaves" Luisa Orza, Storyteller
Praise for "Haunted Evaporations":
“I’ve loved Toby Chown’s sparse poetry for some time. This small collection is a gem, full of woven myths and deep imaginings. He goes to dark places to find small flowers growing and shines moonlight on our evaporating civilisation." Steve Thorpe Unpsychology
