British songstress and performer Damsel Talk and the Argentine sound artist and pianist Nicolas Boccanera are a gutsy duo, together they investigate the limits of their instruments.
They create a nostalgic soundscape in which their own songs, theatrical storytelling and improvisation coexist. The music navigates between jazz, folk, classical, noise and blues.
In preparation for a live show, Boccanera converts obsolete objects such as telephones into instruments using them like controllers, and Damsel, the mistress of glam noir, creates theatrical masks and scouts out props and vintage costumes to heighten the cabaret of characters that arise.
Boccanera and Damsel Talk met in Buenos Aires in 2017 playing in jazz clubs. Their first album Peppermint, a collection of spontaneous compositions, songs and poems, was released last year. This summer they will tour Europe from June to August as a duo and in other formations, collaborating with friends, artists and local musicians in different cities.

“Compellingly off-kilter… a peppy, fluorescent surface and a deep underlying eeriness—a combination which reflects the void Meljoann sees at the heart of corporate life and capitalism itself” - Hotpress
