Thursday 6th July | 7pm | £7 advance tickets
An evening of songwriting and experimental music curated by Alexander Painter to launch his debut solo EP. Featuring live sets from Alexander Painter, YOU&TH, Grow Fins, and Smoking Room as well as a special one-off collaborative performance featuring the night's performers.
About the artists:
Alexander Painter - ‘Composer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist (cello, saxophone, piano and vocals) based in Brighton.’ Using elements of improvisation, I draw upon a pool of influences ranging from the 70s experimental New York scene to modal jazz to contemporary classical and pop, aiming to create a unique musical palette.
Smoking Room - ‘Smoking Room is the home recording project by Mikey Phillips.’ In 2022 they released one of my favourite albums of the year and I’m delighted they’ll be performing an intimate solo set.
YOU&TH - ‘Music making, sound recording, noise explorer. Field recordings, improvisation, Neapolitan songs.’ I first saw YOU&TH perform last year and was thoroughly lost in her violin textures and world-building live compositions.
Grow Fins - ‘Good weird sounds.’ Grow Fins' live set effortlessly marries live electronics, guitar and song in a captivating and hypnotic dream.
