We are very excited to have Heidi Kilpeläinen with us this month (virtually).
Tango Therapy is part of her ongoing project asking ‘Can we speak with song?’
Heidi has performed this work in various situations, from refugee camps and care homes to galleries and festivals and now virtually here in a zoom setting.
Heidi sings a Finnish folk song to one person at a time, sitting on opposite chairs. Anyone is welcome to sit on the chair as it becomes free. The listener can choose to sing back to the artist, in any language. Tango Therapy is an intimate and personal exchange of songs. She says “Understanding the lyrics is not necessary: melody and sentiment cross the borders of language”.
We are inviting you to come and receive a song and sing one back virtually, we would love to have you!
