We are very happy to providing an unlikely spot for some early music to be performed. We love the BREMF and are really proud to be hosting this showcase for five emerging ensembles:
BRIDGING THE DIVIDE
The Gesualdo Six
This exciting new vocal ensemble is already building an impressive reputation. Here they will juxtapose sacred and secular renaissance music with works by living composers.
JOHN BARLEYCORN ALIVE
Improviso
An intriguing programme exploring links between changes in agriculture and artistic expression in 17th and 18th-century England.
TRACES
Flauti d’echo
Brilliant recorder virtuosi play music by J S Bach, Purcell and Uccellini exploring playful mirroring and haunting reflections.
SHIFTING IDENTITIES
Istante
Classical chamber works explore the theme of identity. Includes music by both Michael and Joseph Haydn.
SUMMER UNDE WINDER: SONGS FROM MEDIEVAL GERMANY
Rumorum
Exploring the music of the Minnesingers from the 12th to the 15th centuries in songs about love, dancing and rivalry, alongside new but stylistically ‘medieval’ instrumental dances and improvisations.
