We are super excited to have Yama Warashi from awesome Bristol based Bloom collective and Mechanical Tales form Italy playing this month. We will also be digging out some hilarious and bizzarre short films from our archive. + Surprise DJ spinning tunes and possibly some sort of interruption.
Yama Warashi is formed by Bristol-based Japanese artist Yoshino Shigihara with eclectic band members. Her music has a dreamy evocative sound with a shadow of moon cake, inspired by Japanese folk dance music, Bon Odori(盆踊り), free jazz and African music with a slice of electric psychedelia. Yoshino plays keyboard, percussions and sings songs in her mother tongue about mycelium, nuclear power stations and broken O.
The DIY trio is based in Udine, Italy, the so-called capital of the war. They produce cinematic music with post-atomic vibes. Being involved for many years in the italian experimental music scene with other bands, they decided to create a new musical project in 2012. They work closely with video and collaborate with visual artists. In 2014 they met Eleonora Sovrani, a videoartist whose focus lies in the relationship between visual language, social dynamics and artistic practice. This close collaboration has given birth to many performances and installations. One of which we will see at The Rose Hill.
